next800

In honor of the 800 year anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon, The Second Nagarjuna and the founder of the Drikung Yogi Lineage, next800 is a strategic Dharma initiative with a vision for helping Dharma, and Lord Jigten Sumgon’s tradition to propagate with great success for the next 800 years.

While in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition there are elaborate instructions and detailed information covering myriad of topics, there are none that are focusing on the effective use of 21st-century technology, such as the internet, for Dharma propagation. The goal of next800 is to act as a spearhead project that help Dharma propagators successfully transition in to the digital age.

The project is overseen by Drupon Sangye, and conducted by Sangha from Estonia and Finland.

Lord Jigten Sumgon

Also known as the Second Nagarjuna, 800 years ago at the height of Buddhist culture more than 100,000 monks regularly  attended Lord Jigten Sumgon’s teachings.

One of the greatest meditation masters and spiritual teachers of all time, Jigten Sumgon, also known as Jigten Gompo (“The Lord of the Universe”), has an 800 year anniversary in 2017.

NEXT800 is a technology-focused Dharma Initiative in honor of our great father, Lord Jigten Sumgon.

May the teaching of the great Drigungpa Ratna Shri, who is omniscient, Lord of the Dharma, Master of Interdependence continue to increase, through study, practice, contemplation and meditation until the end of Samsara.

Yogi Lineage

We are praying for the long-life of Drikung Lamas, and hoping for their blessing to speed up the success of this ambitious initiative.

Our sincere wish is that by effectively leveraging digital technologies, design thinking and behavior change based communication techniques, interest in the Glorious Drikung Kagyu lineage can be increased gradually in the short-term, and significantly in the long.

We are hoping that by leveraging modern propagation techniques appropriately and in a way that is respectful to our glorious tradition, we and those following our example can support the preservation and ultimately the growth of the unique Yogi tradition of Drikung.

An invincible unbroken lineage that dates back to the great Indian Masters, Saraha, Tilopa and Naropa, to Marpa Lotsawa, the Great Yogi Saint Milarepa, King of Dharma Gampopa, and Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Master Phagmodrupa.

May it be auspicious!
